The spooky season is upon us. And whether you love or hate this time of year, it’s a great reminder to confront your fears.
Perhaps you’ve heard of exposure therapy. It’s a way of facing your fears by coming face-to-face with them. So, if you have a fear of spiders or snakes, you can go to the local pet store and spend some time in the reptile aisle. Or if you fear heights, you can take an elevator to the top of a skyscraper and stand in the window.
But what if your fear is internal? Many of our fears revolve around not being good enough, failing, or being unworthy. What can you do for those fears?
The answer may be simpler than you think. Just take action towards the thing your fear is stopping you from. It doesn’t have to be a huge leap. You can start with small steps.
Where to Start
Start by getting clear on what will bring you joy and fulfillment. Find out your purpose and develop a roadmap for pursuing it.
Succeed On Purpose will show you how to do just that in our online course, Get Clarity.
Then you can start making the changes to build a life you love, one step at a time.
If you’re unhappy in your current job but fear you’re not good enough to do what you truly want, update your resume, and apply to a few jobs.
If you’re interested in starting a business, but fear failing, attend a networking event with your target market and start making connections.
If you want a relationship, but think you’re unworthy of love, join a dating app and see who’s out there.
Once you take that first step, you’ll see it wasn’t as hard as you imagined. These small steps help you break out of your comfort zone so you can start to push through and face your fears.
You may feel the actions are scary, but nothing is spookier than settling for a life you don’t love.
