Inspired by Rick Warren’s well-known book, The Purpose Driven Life, I began to seek an answer to the question: How do you live on purpose?
Although the book was amazing, it didn’t tell me how to do it. Lol!
Purpose is why we are born. It’s who we are at the core of our being - our soul. It’s not a job or a business, but rather a way of being.
For example, my purpose is to “inspire potential.” Anytime I am BEING that, I feel both successful and happy.
Today, nearly two decades after reading Rick’s book, and making what seemed like a ton of mistakes along the way, I have clarity on how to do it.
The first step is to surrender to purpose. Said another way, let your soul drive. Although that is indeed the first step, it’s also the hardest.
When the soul drives, you’ll travel to some interesting places. Some that will scare you, but also many of the most amazing places.
Surrendering to purpose is like letting go of what you thought life would be like, what you think is right, or what you believe you should be doing.
Go where purpose takes you. Trust the process.
If you don’t know your purpose, we encourage you to tow our Get Clarity micro course.
The second step is about perspective. When the purpose path takes you where it wants to go, know that every step of the journey is preparation for something more. No matter what it looks like.
Purpose has bigger plans for us, and sometimes it takes us to places that PREPARE us for something amazing.
So, no matter what the path looks like, please remember that the path is preparing you for amazing.
