Three Power Tools for Living Abundantly on Purpose

There are three CHOICES we make in the moment, all the time when we seek Abundance on Purpose. We make choices all the time…every moment of every day. Having more awareness brings these choices into our consciousness.

As someone who has chosen to take big steps on my purpose, I face these choices daily. Each day I get to re-chose.  It is important to note the difference between a choice and a decision. A choice is in the moment. We may only make a few actual decisions each day, but we make thousands of tiny, little choices.

Three Choices that Directly Affect Abundance

  1. Belief: Do I BELIEVE I can have abundance on my purpose? (Head)
  2. Desire: Do I DESIRE to live abundantly on my purpose, or am I just hoping, wishing and wanting? (Heart)
  3. Willingness: Am I WILLING to take small (or big) steps to live on purpose? (Body)

These choices are more than words we say to ourselves…they become a way of life. We must make them over and over again, daily, to live on purpose and capture the abundance waiting for us.

The good news is that I’ve discovered three “Power Tools” to assist with these choices.

The Three Power Tools for Abundant Living

I think of Power Tools because they give us power when we feel the most powerless. Identify the choice that you are struggling with and use your Power Tool!

1) Visualization Strengthens Belief

For 5 minutes a day, without interruption, just visualize the abundant, purposeful life you’re living. Picture it in full living cover. Use all of your senses, be in the picture and imagine all of the blessings. Here is one of my visualizations as an example.

“I am standing on my private beach, overlooking the most amazing ocean. I hear the waves gently roaring, and the seagulls squalling. I smell the ocean, and feel the sand under my toes. I’ve got an ice cold Bud Light Lime in one hand and a great book in the other. Behind me is my beautiful beach home with the infinity pool. My businesses run on their own power, so I have time to write more books. Charles, my personal masseuse arrives to give my daily massage, and my personal chef Rosemary is preparing a healthy lunch. Right about the time I head to the massage cabana, my phone rings. It’s Oprah calling to ask if I will host a show on the OWN network to bring Succeed on Purpose to millions of viewers!”Imagine if you pictured this type of visualization every day? How good would that make you feel? Would it not also strengthen your belief? It does for me (when I take those 5 minutes to do it!!!)

2) Prayer Strengthens Desire

When we open up to God’s will and listen for guidance from Him, it awakens our child-like faith.

I am not talking about a rote prayer or a “HELP!” kind of prayer. I am talking about a genuine conversation with God. However you pray, do it in a way that allows you to hear the voice of your God leading, guiding, and encouraging you. I do this best when I journal regularly, because that’s how I best listen to God. I ask questions, and listen for answers. Some prefer to do it in stillness. Regardless of how you do it…DO IT! Instead of asking God for help, ask God to “show you” how to take a step or overcome your fear. Listen for the response, and open up to hear it. It starts as a small, quiet voice, and over time it’s easier to hear.

3) Meditation Strengthens Willingness

When we can quiet our fears and just be, then taking a step on faith becomes easier. Without meditation, we remain immobilized by fear. With meditation, we are strengthened by the awareness of the power of our soul, the power of our purpose, and the power of who we are.

I struggled for a long time without being able to meditate because my mind works so fast. It’s very difficult for me to sit still for 5 minutes and not think! Now I use guided meditations and find it much easier to get into that calm space. They are usually short (5-8 minutes). I like Christian meditations from BeliefNet.com, and also new age meditations that focus on energy. In that space, my all-time favorite is www.aleyadao.com. I highly recommend this if you are comfortable with something new age. There are lots of choices out there, so find one you like and you’ll find it makes meditation easier. Meditation really helps with willingness.
